More than 60 youngsters cycled
in convoy to a picnic after learning how to look after their bikes.
They rode through Homerton High Street on their way to
Lee Valley cycling circuit in Eastway, Hackney Wick.
The picnic celebrated the completion of the Cycle Recycle
project, which taught the youngsters bike maintenance and proficiency skills.
The project was set up by the environment group, Groundwork
Hackney, and the bikes were donated by the Metropolitan Police. "It was
a great end to an exciting project," said Azeema Caffoor, Groundwork Hackney's
youth and community worker.
"Such a big convoy of cyclists gave the kids a lot of
satisfaction, knowing they had got those bikes working again." |
