Hornsey & Crouch End Journal - 1st November 2001

PEDAL POWER

Kids from Stroud Green Primary School, Woodstock Road, set in motion a brilliant new safety cycling scheme during half term.
Encouraging the use of bycicles in Finsbury Park is seen as key to improving the environment in the area. The cycle workshops have been set up by the Finsbury Park Partnership.
Gavin Killip, programme manager, said:"The courses start off by making sure that they can control the bike.
"then you take them from the safe environment out into the wide back streets so they get used to the traffic.
"The course gives them confidence and skills and there are numerous studies to show that if you get cycling between the ages of 10 and 18, you are more likely to keep at it."
