London Cyclist - April/May 1999
Cycle Training network
Simeon Bamford runs Cycle Training,which
is based in Southwark, but is on its way to becoming a londonwide network
of freelance instructors. Simeon told Geraldine that after one hour she'd
be able to start, ride in a straight line, and do an emergency stop. She
didn't believe him, but it worked. "He also reassured me by demonstrating
that bikes don't fall over as soon as you stop pedalling, so there's time
to stick out your foot and balance" she says. |

Six months and some regular practice after her first lesson
with Simeon, Geraldine has booked herself onto a cycling holiday in the
New Forest. She's also applying for jobs where cycling could come in useful:
"So it's opening up career possibilities too."
